My thanks to Emma Welton of damppebbles blog tours for inviting me to join the tour for Under you Skin by Rose McClelland.
Where is Hannah?
When Kyle’s wife Hannah goes missing, the whole town is out in force to try to find her. One person knows where she is. One person is keeping a secret.
Detective Inspector Simon Peters and Detective Kerry Lawlor have been brought in to investigate the case, but Hannah has left no traces and Kyle has no clues.
Local Belfast resident Julia Matthews joins the #FindHannah campaign and becomes friendly with Kyle, sympathising with his tragedy. As Julia becomes more involved in the case than she bargained for, she begins to uncover more secrets than the Police ever could.
Julia was only trying to help, but has she become drawn into a web of mystery that she can’t escape?
Discover a gripping thriller that has you on the edge of your seat!
Our Author – Rose McClelland
“Under your skin” is Rose’s fourth novel. Her previous three novels were romantic fiction published by Crooked Cat. She has made the genre jump from “chick lit” to psychological thriller and is enjoying delving into a darker corner of her mind!
Rose has also written two short plays which were performed in the Black Box theatre in Belfast.
She discusses book reviews on her You Tube channel and writes theatre reviews for her blog.
She loves nothing more than curling up with her cats and a good book. She has two rescue cats – Toots, who is ginger with an inquisitive face and Soots, who is black and hops along on his 3 legs looking ever so cute.
My Review – Under Your Skin
Kyle Greer, charming and credible with his good looks and sparkling personality returns home from work to find his wife Hannah, missing. She’s not there, his tea isn’t ready, and there no reason he can think of as to why she isn’t home.
He calls the police and is told to wait 48 hours. 48 Hours later, he calls them again to report her still missing and that he still has no idea why she would leave. She must have been kidnapped and being held, prisoner. Why would she leave, they have a nice home, and money, she’s no reason to go anywhere, she has everything she could need right there.
The days pass and still no news so Kyle goes to social media and starts a #FindHannah campaign and that’s when he meets Julia. And even though they are searching for his missing wife, Kyles charm works on Julia and she becomes enthralled by Kyle and falls under his spell too.
All while poor Hannah is missing. We know from her dialogue that she’s trapped and that someone is holding her captive. But the police have no idea where to start looking for her. But what becomes clear as the book and the story develops is that Kyle is not the perfect husband he appears to be.
Its hard to say much more without giving too much away, but the characters in Under Your Skin are excellent and Kerry Lawlor and DCI Simon Peters get to the bottom of the plot and uncover more than they bargained for in the process.
A great exploration of family life, behind closed doors and of domestic violence and coercive relationships. The chapters flow well and the inner voices of the main characters keep the story flowing very nciely.
